The legacy of Magic
The Mage College
The Mages College sits alone, on a fully self sustaining island that is isolated from the other territories. There is a treaty between all kingdoms to guard this college. The only mages that do not live here are druids, as they had no part in the events that shattered this world. Mages are not exactly rare outside of this college, but they are only allowed to travel, when specifically asked for. Many noble houses are keen to take on a mage as an adviser. While the general public despise magics due to hundreds of years worth of propaganda, they have proved useful in curing disease and famine. Mages generally travel with a two or three knight guard. This is both for their protection, and to keep an eye on them, in case they get out of control. Not many people know what actually happens inside this college. One would be hard pressed to find an organization that knows more than these mages do. Not only do they record history, as it happens, but quite a lot of them are dedicated to restoring the lost history of Tryllia.
Recently, mages have started questioning why they are being detained on one island. They feel that they should not be cooped up for the sins of their ancestors. While determined to prove that they have changed as a collective, they are becoming more and more willing to bribe and taunt their guards. Some have even gone so far as to provoke them into a fight. These individuals have hanged. The guards made sure to make these executions very public. The bodies of the dead are not allowed to be removed. Many more mages have found the time to get to know the guards, and even trade wine and cheese with them. Some have found guards who are sympathetic to their cause. A few mages have even managed to slip away into the night.
